  1. I wanted to let you know I loved this book. I am a stay at home mom and have a limited budget for books. I think I have read all of your books, but I am not sure. I have read Titanium Texicans, Metal Boxes, Chewing Rocks, & Steel Walls and Dirt Drops. I can’t decide between the first two I listed which is,my favorite. I did enjoy all of them though. I give ★★★★★ on all of them. Thank you.

  2. Enjoyed this story and the characters and was wondering if this a one of story or will their be more to follow. I also noticed that “Metal Boxes and “Empty Space” ended similarly leaving it open for a continuation of the adventures of the main characters, are we to look forward to more from those books? I do hope so.

  3. Arthur,
I am about 75% of the way through the sequel to Metal Boxes. And a rough story line sketch for book three. I also have rough story outlines for books 2 and 3 in both Empty Space and Titanium Texicans. There are so many stories to tell, I can’t say when I will get to them, but I am working on it.

    1. Brilliant stuff. Have enjoyed both Empty Space and Titanium Texicans a great deal so am looking forward to further editions. Started using audiobooks last year as spending all day working with screens I enjoy just laying back with closed eyes listening and painting the environment in my mind. Patrick Freeman was especially brilliant with Texicans so I hope he is available for the following editions.

      1. Russ,
Thank you for your kind words. I don’t have any plans for sequels to Titanium Texicans…yet. However, I do have plans for two sequels to Empty Space in 2017.
FYI – we will have ALL of my scifi on audio books by the middle of Summer 2016. Larry Goes To Space is only about 2 weeks off from being on audiobook.

  4. Just finished this, and really enjoyed it. It was a one sitting book for me. It put me in mind of Lowell’s Traders Tales, and that is not a bad company to be in.
If you’re going to write sequels to this, then I may be stepping on a plot point and if so, my apologies. There was mention of a last letter to Madame Ortiz from her son Tomas. What was in it? Could it be that Tomas was informing his mother of the woman he loved and intended to marry? Is that why Tass’s mother was so insistent that he would return? The Scots had some rather informal marriage customs, is it possible that they were, in fact, we’d through one of those customs? If so he is no bastard and the legitimate heir to the Ortiz freight lines.

      1. The no plans for a sequel is a crying shame. There is more fun to be had in that universe as they say. Tasso, with the eye of a free trader, the heart of a liberator and an affinity for long hours alone, is in a prime position as a protagonist. I can see him with a small freighter free trading or trying to and getting into all sorts of situations.

Thanks for your work. I really do enjoy it. As I said this was a “one sitting” read for me. This means not that it was inadequate in any way but that I picked up my eReader sat down in my chair and did not move for 5 hours. Then I did the needful sat down again and looked up 7 hours later. It dominated my attention for 2 days. A truly absorbing story.

  5. Sawadee Khap….Greetings from Thailand!

I just finished listening to the audiobook version of Titanium Texicans, which I througly enjoyed. I have some questions about the Escorpión Rojo. I know that the ship is enormous, but HOW large is it? What is the general configuration? How is powered? I wish there had been some brief description of the control deck and enginering. I know these aren’t essential to the plot, but those are things that I enjoy hearing about.

I don’t know how many young people have read all the of Heinlein “juveniles”, but I was delighted at th first mention of stobors…AND at Tunnel in the Sky being the subject of a book report!

I listen to a LOT of audio books these days. I want to say that I enjoyed both Larry Goes to Space and Chewing Rocks. All of your books have had had wonderful narrators.

    Best wishes

    1. Lawrence,
Thank you for your kind comments.

I specifically didn’t give much information about the size or the specifications of the ship. I would like the reader (you) to apply your own sense of imagination and vision to the ship. I believe that will give a reader a more expansive scope than if I spent a few pages giving you a data dump.

How did you like the narrator? Patrick Freeman also did the voices on STEEL WALLS AND DIRT DROPS.

    1. Alta,
      Your comments are most appreciated.
Titanium Texicans is one of my favorite books. That is why I am loathe to just throw a sequel at it.
The fourth book – Metal Boxes – At the Edge – should be out on audiobook any day.
